BDC Students Succeed At Wilson Wyatt November Tournament
(Lexington, Kentucky): On November 20th, four elementary students from the Bluegrass Debate Coalition participated in the Wilson Wyatt November Invitational, competing in the “Novice Public Forum” division. All four students are currently enrolled in the BDC After School Learning Program, where they participate in weekly classes on debate and public speaking.
Students debated the topic “Increased United States federal regulation of cryptocurrency transactions and/or assets will produce more benefits than harms”.
The BDC congratulates all four students who took part in the event. Several students received awards, including:
- Aaron George & Aarav Tibrewal, 2nd Place Debate Team
- Aarav Tibrewal, 2nd Place Speaker Award
- Aryan Rana, 4th Place Speaker Award
- Aaron George, 8th Place Speaker Award
- Aarko Guha, 9th Place Speaker Award
A special congratulations to the BDC team of Aaron George & Aarav Tibrewal for winning all of their preliminary debates, making them the only undefeated team!
These accomplishments are especially significant considering all BDC students who participated were elementary school students competing primarily against high school debaters.
Debate improves skills in public speaking, critical thinking, argumentation, and more – and the BDC helps to connect students with debate so they can access these benefits. The Bluegrass Debate Coalitions students’ success at the Wilson Wyatt November Invitational demonstrates the impact BDC programs have on students, and the success they can achieve.
