As part of the After School Learning Program, the Bluegrass Debate Coalition frequently hosts speech and debate events, mostly online, sometimes in-person, to further debate education for our students. We are offering this to elementary, middle school, and high school students who are currently enrolled in our after-school debate program. There is no cost to attend!

The BDC "New Year's Resolution" event is a modified version of public forum debate. Special judges and volunteers will host these debates using Zoom. We still need volunteers to supervise and judge. Using the registration button (above), sign up and select 'observer' or 'judge*' and submit. Very simple.
*We do not require judges to have prior experience, we prefer fair-minded people who will be unbiased, will reward excellent thinking and speaking, will encourage respect, and will not reward rude behavior.

Topic (Elementary): On-balance, switching to 100% 'renewable energy' is desirable.
Topic (MS & HS):
On-balance, U.S. Regulation of the 'cryptocurrency' industry is desirable.

This event will have prizes! There will be trophies (medallions) for the "Top 3-5" debate teams and the "Top 5-10" speakers. There will also be the popular "Champions of Crossfire" event as well. 🙂

Debate partnerships will be handled in one of two ways... for those who have a partner in mind, they can choose to debate together as a team (pairs). For those who do not have a partner, one will be provided; a debater of similar grade and experience. Debaters are strongly encouraged to debate with someone from their own school before seeking a partnership with someone from a different school. We would like to see some school spirit please! 🙂
